Help feed the citizens of Mocoa, Colombia
Auckland
I am a Colombian Citizen that lives in NZ, Couple of months ago I went to visit my country. Three people from New Zealand went with me and had an amazing time in a town called Mocoa. On the night of the 31st of March Mocoa suffered a huge avalanche killing around 400 people, and leaving many more with terrible injuries or homeless. There have been at least 120 houses destroyed, and there are no water facilities. I have family that live in this town and they have been devastated by this disaster. Unfortunately, with the state of the Colombian Government, it is not the best idea to donate directly to the government if you want to help. We want to give all the money we raise directly to the people we know who live here who will help distribute it among the people who need it most.
I'm involved because I am a Colombian citizen with a strong connection to this town. I want to help the people who live there to have a better quality of life because they do not deserve to be living like they are
The funds will be used to provide food and fresh water to people in need. The citizens of Mocoa have to wait while their houses and facilities are being rebuilt, which could take over a year. In the mean time, they need food, shelter and water to live.
The funds will be transferred directly to people members of my family who will in turn buy and cook up food, and provide water to help feed all of the people without homes.
