Support a young musician to further develop her craft at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music.
Auckland
Maeve Herd — a classical soprano from Auckland, New Zealand — is preparing to make a big move to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK in September 2023 to begin study towards an Advanced PGDip in Vocal Studies and Opera.
Over the past five years, Maeve has worked hard towards Bachelors and Masters qualifications at the University of Auckland School of Music. The RNCM was the first of the UK conservatoires to recognise her developing craft and her potential and offered her a place in their post-masters Advanced PGDip programme with scholarships to partially subsidise her course fees for the 2023/2024 year. While the RNCM’s support has been valuable, Maeve is still in significant need of funds to cover the remainder of her course fees (shortfall of approx. NZD$29,000 for fees alone) in addition to living and travel costs while studying in the UK. Maeve currently works four jobs to save for her big move and is conscious that her savings do not currently cover extending her singing journey in the UK and Europe beyond the end date of her year at the RNCM.
Maeve is humbly requesting help from the communities who have nurtured her both as musician and a person over the past 24 years to come to her aid in keeping her music dream alive. Every little bit helps!
The funds from this page will go towards supporting part of Maeve’s course fees plus living and travel costs while studying in the UK for the 2023/2024 academic year an beyond.
