Fundraising for Mt Cook School playground redevelopment
Mount Cook, Wellington
At Mt. Cook School in Wellington, the majority of our tamariki live in apartments and over 50% of our tamariki come from other countries. Problematically, the school playground is being dismantled bit by bit. It’s extremely old and becoming too unsafe to access. This means our tamariki are going without play, which is terrible at their young age.
To amend this, we are asking our community for support to help fund a new playground. We are applying for grants, but we will need all the support we can find to make this happen.
As a central city school we share out school hall, sports field and playground with the wider community - a new playground is an asset for everyone. The nearest public playground is a 20 min walk, outside the city center. In our well-connected community, children who relied on our facility now have nowhere to go. This isn’t acceptable. As the playground crumbles, our tamariki get more and more disheartened.
For the wellbeing of our community, we want to replace the old playground with a new one. Please consider donating so we can improve our local wellbeing.
At Mt Cook School is a richly diverse community. We value curiosity and exploration. We believe learning should be playful meets tamariki where they are and brings out the best in them.
All money donated will be spent on the playground redevelopment. We have quotes for a range of playground designs - the more support we get, and the money we can raise the better the rebuild will be.
