OUR JOURNEY THROUGH CANCER AND UNCERTAIN TIMES
Auckland
October 2023, my mum June was ill with pneumonia and her GP sent her for a CT scan as she had been ill for almost 4 weeks. It was here that the tumor on her right lung was found. She called me and said she needed me to move to Auckland to help her. So my partner, our 7 children and I packed up our jobs, school, lives and moved down.
November 2023, mum had a PET CT scan where it was confirmed that it was a cancerous tumor and 2 weeks later a biopsy was completed and it was found to be small cell lung cancer - an aggressive, fast growing cancer that spreads quickly throughout the body.
January 2023, my children were unsettled and needed to return home for school and regular life so my partner and 6 of our children moved home but I have had to stay to continue caring for her as she is going to be beginning treatment.
It has been a huge struggle emotionally, mentally and most definitely financially, with my partner having to give up work to care for our young family and me giving up work to care for mum full time, it has proven to be very difficult but we are doing the best we can, supporting two homes.
This give a little page is created to relieve some of the financial stress we’re experiencing while we go through this journey with mum and also to allow mum to experience some of the things she hasn’t experienced in life but are part of her bucket list.
Mum is starting her Chemotherapy on March 27th followed by Radiation Treatment in the third cycle of Chemo.
Financial relief supporting two homes so we can support mum and fulfilling mums small life dreams and bucket list.
Mums hair cutting 21 April 2024
Friday 19th April, day 3 of June’s second cycle of Chemotherapy. Her hair had started falling out into week 2 of her first cycle and had become more profound this week so mum decided she wanted it cut and asked her son Bruce to come and do this for her.
