Raising funds to support the whānau who have lost their home, possessions and vehicles in the Muriwai landslides.
Muriwai, Auckland
On the 13th of February 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle caused a devastating landside leaving no trace of Hannah, Eddie, and the boy’s family home.
Their preschool boys were fast asleep when their house started to flood soon after 10pm. A local friend rushed over in their aid to help divert water. Within minutes they heard a ‘avalanche’ ripping the boys from their beds running for their lives, Eddie sustained physical injury. Minutes later a second landslide occurred destroying everything in its path.
"We don't care about our house" but they are deeply saddened by the loss of their two firefighter friends.
Any funds raised will go a long way to help this young family replace & rebuild. Starting with the immediate necessities - clothing, bedding, toiletries - and then items like the work van & tools that Eddie, who is a builder, will need to get back to work. They anticipate insurance will cover some of the larger expenses, but this may take time.
Please only give if it does not cause you financial hardship to do so.
