My beautiful friend Jacky is facing the fight of her life! Let down by our public health system in NZ

A few weeks ago Jacky was blindsided by a devastating diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer. aggressive fast moving form of cancer.

Anyone who knows Jacky and her beautiful whanau know they are the most kind, compassionate and caring people. The first to step up and help others in need. The give their shirt off their back kind of people.

Jacky is a devoted mother to two children aged 14 & 9

And an exceptional wife.

At only 50 years old she has so much more life left to live, & be there to see her children grow up.

Jacky has not had the luxury of coming to terms with her diagnosis and had to start chemotherapy immediately!!! after tests showed the cancer was growing already, there was no time to waste treatment had to be started ASAP!

The gruelling public health system route of chemotherapy and surgery. Her medical team have advised adding an Immunotherapy drug called Keytruda to her treatment plan.

THE HEARTBREAK: This drug is currently completely unfunded in NZ unless you are terminal!!!

This is Jacky’s best chance at survival.

The cost is a staggering $100,000 total!!!! and must come solely from her whanau’s pocket. Although each treatment is to be paid for at the time Not an amount that any whanau should have to face on their own and face covering everyday living costs.

This family needs to be able to focus on being there for each other. Not to have the stress of trying to maintain everyday living Costs. A huge financial burden on its own as they face loss of income.
