It takes an alternator to go between the battery and the engine, so please be our alternator. We need to get our book project running,
Otago
We are the Adults with Autism Otago group in association with Autism NZ (With the exception of our brilliant illustrator, Hannah Scott, who is not on the spectrum)
We have created a series of books about Emily and her 'hero' Grandpa - Leonardo. It's written by and created by Aspies. We've also put together a passport and school pack for your youngster to help student and teacher navigate the forest of school and how they get the most out of it.
The pack works both ways to help student and teacher understand each other and become more educated in both directions.
We're here because we'd like your help to raise funds to self-publish MGJ's. $4500 gets us 250 hard-back special edition books to be distributed via Autism NZ to schools and associations.
Once you've met one person with Autism, you've met one person with Autism.
My mother used to tell me never to trust a slim Chef, and you cannot describe a headache until you've had one. I think you know where we're heading.
So we wrote a fun series on what It's like navigating this world whilst being on the spectrum. The fact we wrote it through the eyes of a funky 12 year old girl - Is obvious. We're 2 parts fed up of spandex hero's or elitist wizard's at a school with absurd staircases.
So it follows, how can you get a fuller picture about Autism, if you don't already have it?
Thanks for getting this far. We also have recently gotten an article in the ODT written about us, if you'd like to check that out:
