- I believe a man who makes more opportunities than he finds has spunk - Please help my son find his new path after this terrible accident -
Auckland
My son, Campbell Davies, who was a strong healthy - hard working determined young man who had his life ahead of him some 8 years ago, when he was burnt 3 days into his new dream job building safety craft for coast guard overseas market - So dream opportunity - sadly nipped in the bud -He blames his life now on this mistake - he suffered terrible flame burns to both his hands and his chest and upper arm - after 6 weeks in Middle more burns centre the clever surgeons managed to graft -with many painful hours surgery all his fingers from his left thigh - It was a large donor site, but this was necessary as fingers can not have stretched skin like other grafts it must be whole skin - He worked hard as did the surgeons to gain movement and the best recover he possibly could - However his lack of support from the system drove him to give up his Acc claim and after 2 years he wanted to be working and contributing to society - have his own life and monies to drive his career hopes BUT they (ACC) did not see the need to support his retraining in a job suitable for his new condition OF VERY FRAGILE HANDS - He went back to hard trade labour work too soon and became very ill with blood poisoning and developed a condition called Psoriatic Arthritis - This has broken my heart - he has lost his resources and his hope and much of his strength and spunk ... recently after another 6 days in hospital - He said I won't give up on having a life where I can contribute and earn my own living and have a sense of purpose and some hope - I would like to apply for a P endorsement and become a taxi driver - He would make a very good taxi driver - He is a good driver and I know anything he attempts he will give his most too - So He would need funds to purchase the vehicle and cover his costs for the first 6 months or so of transitioning off the system - PLEASE HELP GIVE MY SON THE OPPORTUNITY TO START HIS LIFE - HOWEVER HUMBLE A MAN SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A SENSE OF PURPOSE AND THE STRENGTH THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW THROUGH HIS PLANS HOW EVER HUMBLE - THIS YOUNG MAN IS SUCH A YOUNG MAN - AND AS HIS MOTHER I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THERE IS HOPE AND GOOD PEOPLE TO HELP HIM ON HIS JOURNEY - GRATEFULLY YOURS A MOTHER WHO HAS SEEN THE PAIN AND STRENGTH AND WON'T GIVE UP -
I am the mother of an unusual Young man who deserves better than he has received from our Acc and Welfare systems - He just wants the dignity to earn a living - a Sense of purpose and direction .

NEVER GOING TO GIVE UP ......., 21 April 2018
Hi all Campbell - had his monthly specialists catch up and they decided to take him of Chemo / and anti rejection drugs the side effects too difficult to manage and trial Vit A - the first thing we read on the side effects was could cause depression and dark feelings (oh really he said - and this is to improve my condition).. he said "look I am happy to trial anything but really could I get more miserable and in pain now you want me to risk depression" - what is next - So next was a daily trip to Greenlane hospital to go on a machine - 3 mornings a week for 3 months - A huge mission when one lives between Kaikohe and Orewa - OMG - he said "I will give it all a go - I am desperate to improve so I can start my life and work and have a sense of purpose and feel like I am contributing" - This week is his 38th birthday so He has bought the car to do his dream via a loan which I did not think was wise but he does not want to wait for charity so he borrowed the funds and has gone to visit his sister and niece and nephews to help during school holidays and hopefully build a better bike for his niece - Family is important to him and he just feels he needs to be near the little ones till the next series of treatments start - Now he can get himself there in the morning 7.30am starts 3 mornings a week for 3 months - wish him love ....... and please pass this on so people can have an opportunity to help him realize his dream of getting back to making his own business - AGAIN THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY HELPED HIM GET CLOSER TO HIS DREAM .....
