Support for Riley the Kiwi springboard diver to get to Junior World Champs
International
Hi I’m Riley. I am 13 years old and I am a junior elite diver with Auckland Diving. I began diving when I was 8 years old and now I have been selected to represent New Zealand on 3m springboard at the Junior World Championships in Montreal, Canada in November 2022, and then in December I will compete at the International CAMO Invitational, a world-calibre diving event which is also in Montreal.
I am so excited and have worked very hard for this opportunity which will be my first international competition. I train 5 times a week and I have won a number of regional and national events in NZ but diving against competitors from all over the world will be a huge step up and great experience toward my future goals.
This year, NZ had its biggest ever diving team at the Commonwealth Games and it was amazing to watch all of them compete. I hope one day I can do the same and represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games and maybe even the Olympics.
I will be away for a month and my parents are funding my trip. My goal for this page is to raise money to help pay for my travel costs and I would be grateful for any contribution you could offer to support me. In addition to this page I am doing odd jobs and other things to help raise money so if you have any jobs I could help you with please reach out to me or my parents.
If you want to follow my diving journey, please follow my instagram page @riley_nzdiver - I will share lots of updates about World Juniors and CAMO.
Thank you!
I am Riley's mother
The money will be used towards travel and accommodation costs
Hello from Montreal 30 November 2022
On behalf of Riley I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported her fundraiser, it has meant a great deal to her and has been so helpful in enabling Riley to participate in World Juniors and the upcoming CAMO invitational.
Her World Juniors debut is just hours away - it will take place at 9am Montreal time, on 30 November (3am NZ time). Anyone that is interested in watching can find the live stream recording here: https://youtu.be/8dNgatNiiFQ
This is her first ever international event and it has been clear that it is about so much more than the competition itself- the benefits of training with and meeting divers from all over the world and of learning to handle the challenges and pressures of a big competition are so valuable. This will set her up so well for future international events, including CAMO in a few weeks.
Marcus, Jacob and I are very excited to be here to watch the event live, we will be bursting with pride to see her step out on the boards tomorrow morning. Deep breaths!
Thanks again for your support and kindness
