We are not the ones who like asking for help, so this is us putting our pride aside for our big girl .
Hamilton, Waikato
Nga mihi whanau
On the 24th of January at 10pm we got a phone call from our doctors asking us to get naej to the waikato hospital immediately for a blood transfusion, after having a appointment earlier that day because i thought she had the flu, at around 3am we were told that naej has leukemia and that we will be transferred up to starship the next morning by ambulance.
25th of January we arrived at starship hospital at 10:30am not known what was going to happen what we were going to be facing, angry scared worried all the emotions. Because it was auckland anniversary we had to wait for tuesday for naej to have her first lumber puncher and bone marrow test to find out what was going on and what kind of leukemia she had. By thursday naej had started her first round of chemo she took it like a champ with only a few hiccups in the road, we waited 2 weeks ( felt forever tbh) for the test to come back, once they were back it was confirmed naej was diagnosed with AML ( accute myeloid leukemia) first week of chemo naej lost most of her hair, nails turned dark blue/purple and appetite has slowly gone.
Accute myeloid leukemia is an aggressive type if cancer in the blood and bone marrow .
Naej is 6years old and loves all things princess and girly she loves hanging out with all her cousins and spending time with whanau, she has all the attitude and sass when she wants but has the biggest loving heart too .
Untill the day we walk out of here, your whanau are forever by your side x
Naej is my daughter and the oldest of 3 x
Home bills, travel food anything that makes naejs stay in hospital that little bit easier on her.
Naejs journey so far 30 March 2025
Naej recently finished her 2nd round of chemo she is in day 10 of recovery, she has had many bumps in the road with this round, we have experienced high temps ulcers in her mouth and around her mouth we have completely gone off food this time around, so now she completly relies on her feeding tube for all the nutrients she needs to keep her energy levels, we have had many infusions and platelet top ups after this round, although many bumps in the road this round, Naej has maintained her high spirits and sass throughout it all x keep going our girl we will see the light at the end of the tunnel bery soon x
