      26 March 2021

At last Nathan's final flight home is about to begin. Nathan departs from Kuala Lumpur tonight and will arrive in Auckland at 3.00 pm tomorrow (Saturday 27th March.

On arrival he will be quarantined for 10 days at Qualified Pet Services and we will pick him up from there on Tuesday 6th April.

Naturally my whole family are excited to see Nathan again after such a long separation and we are so grateful for all the help we have received which has made it possible for this dream to come true.

Photos and a further update to follow!

    Best Wishes,

    Graeme, Nathan, and family.

  • ANOTHER STEP FORWARD

      10 January 2021

A major requirement has now been met, Nathan has successfully passed his Rabies test and now only needs to pass his final parasite tests around the end of February 2021 to be cleared for importation to NZ.

His ETA in New Zealand is late in March 2021, depending on the availability of flights here. Meantime he is being very well cared for by his pet sitter, Hasvinny who keeps in contact with Pet Air regarding their requirements for vet appointments etc.

My grateful thanks to everyone who has donated so far but the journey is not competed yet so if you are able to continue your support in 2021 it would be really appreciated.

Best wishes to you for a great New Year,

    Graeme, on behalf of Nathan.

Hi everyone, I hope you can read this article - you might need to magnify it.

Nathan had to be taken to the vet today, we think that all the changes, especially to his food, may have upset his digestion. he is now okay, but of course i had to send payment for this additional expense, so any further donations would be appreciated.

    Best wishes,

    Graeme.

  • PET SITTER

    Hi there,

Another stage completed, Nathan has finished his quarantine, been checked over by the vet at PetAir, and is now at home with his pet sitter. I'm much happier to see him in a place where he is able to roam freely, and is receiving personal care from a fellow animal lover.

Tomorrow The Northland Age newspaper will publish a follow up story about Nathan's progress which will include a link to this givealittle page and hopefully lead to further donations from people who may read about Nathan for the first time.

    Best wishes,

    Graeme.

  • GREAT NEWS AT LAST

      28 September 2020

After endless delays and disappointments it's amazing to report that Nathan is now in quarantine in Kuala Lumpur! On the 8th of October Nathan will transfer to the care of his pet sitter for the next six months, this is part of the requirement for Nathan to be imported back into New Zealand. He will be in a private home with an animal lover and will have the best of care.

Unfortunately it has cost far more than anticipated and quoted to progress this far so I have a heavy burden of debt on my shoulders.

Please don't forget us and give as generously as you are able, continuing to share Nathan's story with anybody you think would also be willing to help.

Photo below shows Nathan travelling by bus from Barobo to Butuan which is a regional airport in the Philippines. There aren't any passengers because the bus is being towed for repairs, so doesn't have to stop at any of the police checkpoints. My sister in law took the risk as she didn't have a travel permit or medical clearance for the journey! The cost was more than 10x the regular fare because of the risk also taken by the driver, who was a family friend.

    Thanking you in anticipation,

    Graeme (on behalf of Nathan)

  • Yes - No - Maybe ?

      29 July 2020

    Good morning everyone,

Hopefully things are beginning to progress again, flights have resumed, but travel by road is still restricted and problematic. I really want Nathan to start his journey, he has been waiting too long in an environment that is very restricted, I'm sure he feels I have abandoned him, and I miss him terribly. Now there will be additional payments because paperwork has to be renewed, and the quarantine bookings paid for again.

I would really appreciate any additional donations you are able to make, and ask you please to bring Nathan's situation to the attention of anyone else who could help us.

    Kind Regards,

    Graeme and Nathan.

  • Moving Forward

      9 June 2020

Better news everyone, I'm confident that the the Philippine travel restrictions will be removed soon, and as soon as that happens Nathan will begin his journey. The delay has resulted in extra costs so any further donations would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to contact PerAir Malaysia to ask for a new quarantine booking, and will post a further update when the booking is confirmed. Kind Regards, Graeme Fawcett and Nathan.

  • It's A Waiting Game.

      30 March 2020

During this ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic and all the uncertainty about what the future holds for us all I can only be patient and hope Nathans journey can commence soon. I can't help feeling sad and anxious about how Nathan is coping though I know that our Philippine family are caring for him very well. All arrangements have been made to ensure Nathan will travel at the first opportunity, and his quarantine in Kuala Lumpur has been rebooked for April 21 2020. I'll let you all know of any developments as they happen. Please keep safe during this lock down period. Graeme.

  • SUCH DISAPPOINTMENT

      13 March 2020

What an unbelievable thing to happen! On the very day Nathan was to fly from Butuan to Manila, the Philippine President announced that Manila will be locked down for 1 month, no travel to or from Manila by land, sea, or air due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. I am unsure what will happen, when Nathan's booking for quarantine in Kuala Lumpur was made weeks ago the earliest time available was March 19, and we based all our plans around that date.

The only good thing is that Nathan can wait out the delay at home, if he had already arrived in Manila he would have had to be boarded for the month, this would have been a considerable additional expense.

I'll keep you informed of further developments as soon as information becomes available.

    Graeme.

Hello Graeme, yes you must be disappointed, but, out of the two choices he will be happier in a home environment. A month will seem a lot , but it is better than it was, so be happy that Nathan has begun his trip home. All the best Judith.
