NC Wild Bird Rescue based in North Canterbury specialises in rehabilitating non-native wild birds who are sick, injured or orphaned.
Nationwide
Countless non-native wild birds in New Zealand are left without help because most rescues take only native and endemic birds. Our wild bird rescue steps in to help fill that gap, giving sick, injured or orphaned wild birds a second chance at life. We also provide support and advice to people who need help with non-native birds throughout NZ if they're based outside of North Canterbury.
We are a not-for-profit organization and receive no government funding. We rely entirely on the generosity of people like you to continue our work. Right now we’re caring for both temporary patients recovering for release and long-term residents who rely on us for a home.
With baby bird season fast approaching, we’re expecting a large number of new arrivals and urgently need more space and better facilities to keep our birds safe.
We also have essential biosecurity requirements we must meet to continue operating.
Your donation will help us build additional aviaries and housing, create more quarantine areas, upgrade our biosecurity, stock up on PPE, food, medical supplies, and equipment so we can keep our doors open for the birds that have nowhere else to go.
Every dollar makes a real difference. Thank you for helping us give these beautiful birds a second chance at life.
