Neela Neela - well deserved trip home to Thailand

$4,175 donated
Given by 70 generous donors in 4 weeks

Lets show our thanks to Neela for her incredible service feeding the Hawkes Bay community for 7 months by helping fund her trip to Thailand.

Hawke's Bay

We fondly want to recognise the legend that is Neela Neela, Hawkes Bay’s hero, an angel who along with her fabulous volunteer team have been cooking, packing & distributing delicious, nutritious Thai meals for over 7 months, since Cyclone Gabrielle hit, devastating parts of our region.

Neela jumped into action, gratefully receiving kind and generous donations from the public & organisations, along with her own savings to buy ingredients & supplies to cook in the peak up to 1000 meals a day, for displaced cyclone victims, volunteer clean up teams, contractors, workers- roading, power & linesmen, orchards, farmers, all involved in cyclone clean up and recovery work.

Over 116,200 meals to date.

These meals helped to keep bellies full, spades & shovels turning, diggers digging, removing loads of silt, power & roads being restored, drains cleared, & keep the spirits up for those facing significant loss.

Neela’s unwavering commitment to completely & selflessly dedicate her time & personal savings ($25,000) to support feeding the community in time of need is admirable & truly honourable.

Neela has been recognised on TV program segments Good Sorts, had article’s written and most recently received a Mayoral award for her outstanding service to the community following cyclone Gabrielle.

Now is our opportunity to say thank you to our local treasure Neela, and help fund her a well overdue & well deserved trip home to Thailand to visit family. She would greatly appreciate your support.

Sincerely thank you for your support  14 October 2023

To all my supporters. I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your donations.

Through your kindness and generosity I am able to take my trip home to Thailand to visit family.

I have a 5 year old grandson there I will be able to meet in person and hug for the first time.

I will also take a spiritual trip to a significant temple and be able to lay my parents ashes there. I missed their funeral during Covid and border lockdowns. So this trip is very special to me.

I’m currently in the process of renewing my passport and visas for smooth travel and re-entry to NZ.

To enable time to do this, we are booking my trip for early 2024. It will come around quickly and I am very excited.

Thank you again for every dollar contributed. I am so thankful you’ve supported my trip and i extended my deepest appreciation for you to have made this become a reality for me.

Warmest regards,

Nga Mihi
