The Nelson Speedway needs your help to cover costs of the consents to operate as they have.
Nelson / Tasman
As the Nelson Speedway enters its 50th year it is faced with the possibility of having to operate how it did on the day it opened.
Over recent years as new people have moved into the area there has been a move to restrict the operation of the Speedway. This is not just a problem for Nelson.
In a recent Environment Court Decision the club was required to comply to their original consent from 1968. Some of this decision requires that there is only one meeting every 14 days ( no more 2 night championship meetings ) and that there can only be a meeting every 14 days.
The changes made over the years were to work with the locals and authorities was on a written or verbal basis and could not be considered in the Environment Court Decision
Your donations will help with the legal and technical costs it bring the speedway back to how it operated last season. The costs to achieve this will be around $150000.00.
To date the club has spent around $40000.00 and at the resent AGM the members voted to levies all youth, life and full members $100.00 ea to cover costs to date.
They need your help.
