Funds will help with emergency survival relief for the 10,000+ families who are flood victims in Nepal.
Wellington
Floods have decimated the Terai area of Nepal, inundating 10,000+ houses and leaving locals without shelter. Thousands of families have lost their livelihoods as the water swept away crops and livestock.
Bad weather has limited communications to a certain level, however we know that the situation is dire. The most affected area is the Eastern Southern Nepal (Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Inarwa etc). Major cities such as Biratnagar are inundated and, as the rain continues, the situation only worsens.
As entire households and crops have been swept away, food security in the region is an imminent problem. Hygiene and psychological support are another urgent need - many Nepalese are still rebuilding their lives after the huge 2015 earthquake.
With the lack of emergency support they are exposed to the added problems of waterborne illness, hunger, and are sleeping rough.
I am here in Nepal and working with locals in Kathmandu who are collecting relief donations of food, blankets, clothing. However, we urgently need funds to buy relief that won't be donated - such as medicines, emergency shelters, and ways to transport the relief and medical teams.
This is a moment where we can help fellow humans in need. Every dollar you donate counts a great deal and with your support we can work with people on the ground to provide urgent assistance to those who need it most! The more we receive, the more life saving assistance we can provide to those who need it. Thank you so much for your support!

I am involved in this cause because I'm currently living in Nepal and I've seen the ongoing impact of the 2015 earthquake on everyday life - which is only compounded by landslides, flooding, and other disasters. I am lucky to have the ability to leave the country if I need to, yet over 20 million people do not have that option. We all have the option to help them though!!
