Help us put a new roof on our beloved Porirua Hospital Chapel!
Wellington
Karakia i te Koraha "Prayer in the Wilderness" aka Porirua Hospital Chapel was commissioned in 1965. The local community, DHB, and the hospital staff all raised funds for this very special place to exist. Over the years, the Chapel has been at the centre of the hospital. We do not have a Sunday offering and rely on donations to keep us going. We are asking again for you to help us as Hospital Chaplaincy is seriously underfunded in New Zealand. We are happy to have the support of our DHB but that is not always enough. We thank you for your generosity.
I am involved because I am a chaplain at the hospital and am committed to ongoing spiritual care of the people who reside here.
Porirua Hospital Chapel sits inside the Porirua and Kenepuru Hospital grounds. We are 3 mental health hospital chaplains who work in partnership with the DHB and the community to foster the well being and spiritual care of those who enter our space. We offer pastoral care and visit people in their own enviroments. We specialise in mental health and work with people of all ages, religious and cultural backgrounds and their families. We have specialised Sunday services every Sunday of the year. We work ecumenically and truly believe that all are welcome in this space.
