We are in need of a new building as our present one no longer allows us to prosper and expand our horizons.
Nationwide
Kia Ora one and all,
Here in a little place called Ahipara in the far north is our kohanga named Te Ohaki Kohanga Reo. We were first established just over 30 years ago in our beautiful quiet settlement. We have seen many tamariki come and go within the last 30 years and grow into awesome women and men of today. Unfortunately our whare has not. We opened up our kohanga in a small skyline garage way back in the 1980's and still to this day we continue to run our kohanga within these four walls. Sadly now it is getting to the stage where it can no longer house our growing numbers. So our whanau and staff of Te Ohaki kohanga reo have been fundraising tirelessly over the past 6-7 years for a new building. So now we are asking if abit of an helping hand to help so we can finally update in install new strong foundations. So we may continue our quest of instilling te reo maori into our tamariki's of today within a warm safe environment. Your help with our cause would be very much appreciated by us our staff and whanau of Te Ohaki Kohanga Reo
Me te mihi nui mo a koutou manaakitanga
Te Ohaki Kohanga Reo
I'm involved in this awesome cause as I'm the administrator at Te Ohaki Kohanga Reo. I oversee the majority of our fundraising projects. Kohanga don't recieve the same funding as a ECE funded childcare facility. So we rely a lot on whanau contributions and applying for grants. And a lot of fundraising. So we thought we might try a different avenue and start a give a little journey.
Here at Te Ohaki Kohanga Reo we teach te reo maori within an enviroment that works within the kaupapa and tikanga of the kohanga movement teaching our tamariki at a very young age to preserve the Maori language by speaking it on a daily basis.
