    Carlo has put on a whopping 300grams in three days. The doctors are not happy with that because he's putting on weight to fast and they are trying to avoid him from getting fat. They have stopped his calogen for now so he doesn't put on as much weight because then he will work hard to breathe. He is back on bubble CPAP because when he had his breathing tube tacken out (Exubated) he was struggling to breathe.

  • baby number#2 in hospital

    Yesterday I flew back to hawksbay to be by my daughter as she had caught the gastro bug and is very I'll. She is being fed through the nasal gastric tube and hopefully can get her on a life flight to Auckland children's hospital so I can be with her brother aswell. Two at once being sick is really ovewelming for me . My partner is gone back to work because financially we are struggling to pay rent and power because he has a couple days of to be by me. Surely there is something good coming our way, because this is beyond what I can take. I just wish we could be financially stress free and just focus on our kids together and share the stress, but at the moment I'm feeling it all.

  • surgery went well

    As you know yesterday Carlo got out to sleep and went into theatre and got his stitches re stitched and also got a real good Clean because of his infection, they don't know at this stage if it has spread to the heart. He also got a pic line in for his medicine. All went well although he had to be intubated before and after but he is now breathing on his own. He had a blood transfusion aswell because his red blood cells were very low.

  • theatre today

    Carlo has gone into theatre today because his stitches that hold his chest together have casued infection so he is under anistetic to keep him asleep. I am very worried for my son because like anybody when there asleep there heart rate drops and because of his complex heart there's always a risk for him. But our love and prayers are with him.   • Weight gain

    Finally baby carlo has put on weight he is now 3.2kg so has gained 300grams. I am super proud of him, it gives me cofidence that he is going to be ok. Things are looking up, just need to keep up with putting on weight now. Yay son

  • Nasal gastric feeding (NG tube)

    As of today 21.10.17 I was able to feed Carlo through his NG tube. I was allowed to prepare feeds, but first I had to study the importance of the nasal gastric tube and I had to answer some questions and today I finally got to put it to practice. Carli had a new NG tube put in yesterday so he now has a long term tube in that last for three months.u feel so much more involved and very happy that I am able to do his feeds without a nurse watching me. He has had a really good day today just oxygen levels dropping time to time so they are wanting another heart scan to see if his heart or the BT shunt isn't causing the problem. There also thinking he may have Angina.

  • progressing everyday

    Carlo is now of CPAP witch was keeping his lungs open and helping him with his breathing so he doesn't waste any energy on breathing. He is now on high flow witch is so much better for his skin because the CPAP was leaving a nasty scar on his nose. He is now on 37 Mills of expressed breast milk and he is also on calogen to help with his weight gain. So far so good hasn't had any arrythmias or any major desaturations. I have a lot of Hope in my baby boy, and everyday he is fighting. Well done son 😍😘

  • Happy 1st Month Carlo

    Carlo is 1month old today he is currently still in Picu starship hospital, he has lost lots of weight after his trauma but he is now on callogen to try put on extra calories.

    He had a blood transfusion on monday because he was low on blood that went well. Everyday is a good day for carlo he hasnt had any major issues, no arrythmias but his oxygen levels have dropped really low into the 40s when hes upset. Otherwise hes doing really well.

  • Improvment

    Carlo has been of Ecmo life support for one week now. He is stable and is exubated now and is breating on his own. He has bubble Cpap to support his lungs so he dosent have to work hard. Kia Kaha son keep up the awsome progress. This is some organic wraps we have bought for him out of his donation money. Trying to make his stay in hospital as confortable as possible
