New Windsor couple need help to start over

Auckland

A young couple residing in New Windsor lost everything in a fiery explosion on Tuesday 4th of July at 6am. The explosion was catastrophic and was heard in the surrounding surburbs that morning. It was caused by a gas leak in the rental property. This amazing couple both cheated death and amazingly survived the blaze. However they were injured in the process and lost everything in the fire.

You can read their amazing story in the link below;

They MAY be entitled to some support from the Government. We want to support them even if they do get support from the Government as they will have many costs and the support from the Government may not cover everything. They did not have any contents insurance.

Geena is a close friend and workmate with my wife. They have been working together in Blockhouse Bay for a while now. I've been always told that Geena is quite an energetic, caring and career focsussed character. Originially from India, they have been renting in New Windsor and have been working tirelessly. They were looking forward to a much deserved vacation before the incident.

Therefore, my wife and I wish to raise funds to help them in whatever way we can, to help them to get back on their feet. They have no family in New Zealand, only friends who can share their grief and help encourage them at this stage.

Use of funds

The funds will help Geena and Biju to start life over again. It will help them get back on a rental market as soon as they leave the hospital, and support them until they are able to get back to work.

They do not have any insurance cover and are depending totally on funds from friends, workmates and those who are willing to donate from the community.

2000 already! Thanks to every donor  8 July 2017

Hi everyone, it is so heart warming to receive so many donations and words of encouragement. Thanks for supporting this couple. I'm overjoyed to see we have hit the 2 grand mark and with the responses I have got to this page.

Thanks to all those helping me out with this fund for Geena and her husband. They are doing much better and on the road to recovery and on behalf of them I would like to thank you all. Thanks for making them feel appreciated in the community and NZ as a whole! We visited them yesterday and I have to say, I admire their strength to endure such hardship and pain, yet still smile and make us feel welcomed. They appreciate every visit and chat we have with them.

Please continue to give and also pray for them as we are waiting on further funding to help them settle down and start life again as per normal, which will definitely take some time.

God bless.
