Nick Russell, 20, is a 3rd year Software Engineering student at University of Canterbury.
On August 28, Nick was admitted to Nelson hospital with pneumonia. After draining litres of fluid from his left lung, fluid was also found around his heart.
On August 31, a CT scan in Wellington hospital revealed a large tumour in his chest. The majority of the lesion was a 4x7cm lump but it also branched underneath his lung and up into his shoulder.
On September 5 Nick was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma.
Fortunately this form of cancer can respond positively to treatment.
On October 2 I will be shaving my head for Nick.
Alternatively, Sam Johnson also has a range of snapback caps and tees dedicated to Nick that are available at http://shop.nicksroadtorecovery.com/ where the profits will go to Nick and his family.
Please help where possible, no contribution is too small.
I attended Waimea College in Nelson with Nick and played Cricket with his older brother, Matt in my school years.
