We are climbing Mt. Maunganui 26 times over the course of one week to raise money for Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Malawi, Africa.
Bay of Plenty
Hi there,
We are 2 final year medical students and an early childhood teacher. We are travelling to the country of Malawi in the southeast region of Africa to volunteer at Nkhoma Mission Hospital.
Nkhoma Mission Hospital is a 240 bed hospital located one hour outside Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. It is a non-profit hospital which serves a very poor population of around 100,000 people. It provides quality health care to the needy in a respectful manner, irrespective of sex, race, religion, or physical ability. The hospital relies on donations to meet the gap between what the hospital receives from the government, and its operating costs. This gap is over half a million dollars a year and your donation can help bridge this gap.
We are also going to work for your donation. How, you ask? We are going to climb Mount Maunganui 26 times over the duration of one week (this is equivalent to the height of Mt. Kilimanjaro). Easy, you say? Each trip up and down the mount is roughly 4km. That is over 100km in a week! Also, just to make things interesting we will be living as 90% of Malawians by living off of $2.00/day.
Every dollar will be donated directly to Nkhoma Mission Hospital to use in the areas that need it most. At the close of the donation period, the money will be transferred to the allocated account for Nkhoma Mission Hospital donations.
