This page is a fundraiser to help three homeschooled teens access learning opportunities beyond the 'classroom'.
Wellington, Carterton District
We're a trio of homeschoolers from different backgrounds and reasons for homeschooling. Jackson experienced severe bullying at intermediate that led to the need to recoup mentally and what started out as a short-term experience saw him really flourish and grow to love learning. Violette suffered a brain injury in March 2024 that made it impossible for her to learn in a school environment with the noise and lighting and long days. Homeschooling has a been a major part in her recovery. Jimmy has always struggled with school largely due to ADHD and conventional school was just not working.
Jackson is passionate about one day becoming a critical care flight paramedic in the rescue choppers. Violette has her heart set on becoming a marine biologist and Jimmy plans to one day be a contract farmer.
All three youth volunteer in their communities in various ways including coaching kids’ sports and helping with children’s holiday camps.
Homeschooling comes at massive cost - and the ability for a parent to earn income is reduced. When opportunities arise to further their learning outside of the classroom, options are very limited.
We will be fundraising to earn money to go towards educational experiences including opportunities that push them to grow and challenge themselves.
One of our planned trips is to visit The Buried Village or Te Wairoa and to visit Mt Ruapehu.
We know that most parents in NZ are in the same boat - so this is only for any who may be interested in supporting them.
I oversee the learning and support each of these young people, always looking for ways to help them flourish as people and in their chosen career paths.
Opportunities arise from time to time that meet their individual interests (such as 'Ocean Youth' for Violette) or trips that boost confidence and build skill that will benefit them in their chosen career paths.
Love you Zoey, thanks so much for supporting our kids!
