  • Can you be a Christmas angel?

Thanks to the generous donations of gifts and treats more than 500 children of prisoners in New Zealand will have a brighter Christmas through the Pillars Christmas appeal. We personally give these gifts to the children and know how special they will feel when they receive them. But what more of these children really need is the life changing gift of a mentor. A stable, consistent, positive and caring role model to guide and support them in the coming year. Pillars are still raising funds for 20 more children to have a mentor in the next school year. Every dollar you contribute to this page goes towards that effort. We need to raise $60,000 to make it happen. What better gift in the season of giving than helping a vulnerable child have the life changing gift of a mentor?

  • Darryn's Story

      29 September 2016

Darryn wanted to share his story so more children like him could get a Pillars mentor. TV3's Story programme talked to Darryn, his Mum Telisa and Darryn's Pillars mentor Puneet who have all beeon a journey together to help Darryn turn things around with the support of Pillars. Darryn was very troubled after his Dad went to prison, and he very nearly ended up there himself. Here is Darryn's story.

Children of Prisoner's Week was launched in Auckland today with an event hosted with the support of the Spark Foundation called Breakfast without Bars at Spark City. MC Ward Kamo hosted a programme of inspiring speakers including Darryn whose mentor made a big impact on his life. More on Darryn's story later in the week. Every dollar you donate goes towards more boys and girls like Darryn who have a Mum or Dad in prison being able to have the gift of a Pillars mentor. We have 10 boys just like Darryn right now in South Auckland waiting for mentors but we need your support to make it happen.
