NZ Maori Hockey 5s Wāhine & Tāne Teams attending FIH Hockey 5s World Cup January 2024 in Oman

In July 2023 NZ Maori Hockey were invited to the Gold Coast, Australia, to attend the Oceania Hockey 5s qualifying tournament. Both our Senior Wāhine & Tāne teams played exciting hockey and finished with the Silver Medal. This meant that both our teams qualified for the FIH Hockey 5s World Cup in Oman in January 2024.

Hockey 5s is a relatively new game that relies on experienced coach/management team as well as a group of players who play hockey with that certain flare about them. "Throwing caution into the wind" so to speak where any given game is never over until that final whistle.

NZ Maori Hockey have never attended a Hockey World Cup and therefore have decided that it was about time the world saw what we were made of.
