  • Term 2!

      8 May 2014

Wow! I can't believe I am into Term2 already! Time has flown away and my time here at the school has been great so far!! We had a great studio showing at teh end of last term and that was a really fun opportunity to perfrom to the public. I had a lovely time in the hoiliday going back to Chch to see my family and friends. Can't wait for my birthday on May 30th because I am going back to Chch and going to Hamner Springs with my family and best friend/s. Yay! What a treat! Thankyou for giving and I will continue to do what I love :) Bye!

      7 February 2014

The days are going by so fast since I have been here. I am so happy! My friends and I are going to see a proffesional dance company perform in the NZ Dance Festival soon, excited about that. I have been practicing some upper body strength exercises and my muscles are feeling a little sore from that, but a good sore :) I'm so proud to be here, the journey I have been on to achieve my goal to get here, now it is where the fun begins!!

  • New Zealand School of dance first classes!

      27 January 2014

I have had 4 classes so far at NZSD and I have absolutely loved every minute of all of them! I'm starting to realise now that my dream is becoming a reality and not just a plan in my head. I have been working really hard at dancing and Mum and I have been very busy setting up my room and buying groceries. I love the Wellington City, the people and everything and I am so happy, I always catch myself smiling when I'm on my own little day dream because I have actually made it here and it is real and this is only the start of my adventure. Mum flew home on Saturday and I'm doing fine being on my own now. I'm never really on my own because I have made wonderful friends already. My rooms all set up so it feels very homely Missing my chch friends abit!

      11 December 2013

Life is very busy for my family at the moment as I have had the end of year dance recital ( 9 shows over 3 days) which I was in 12 dances most shows and taught and prepared 11 dances made up of 69 dancers over all the dance pieces. Fundraising is going very well and we are so happy with the results so far. Mum works from 8 am - 5 pm each week day so we organise everything at night and are tired from staying up late. Soon it will be easier and I will be doing what I dream to do in Wellington. At the dance recital we sold lollies, raffles tickets and a coffee guy helped out with some of his sale money! That money went towards my uniform and items like bedding and clothes hanging racks for the hostel set up. The next upcoming events we have on are Quiz Night, Yoga Class taught by my yoga instructor friend and I am teaching Holiday dance Classes for younger dancers. I hope these go well and I'm sure they will because I am lucky enough to have people supporting me, the more support the better though as we are still having to do a lot more fundraising. It has been very hard to leave my friends and students who I love so much.

  • Update for 03/12/2013

      3 December 2013

Well I am in my last week of training then I have 9 recitals ahead of me over 3 days. The pie selling is going well and we have raffles at my recital so hopefully that will go well also. The fundraising quiz is the 15th Dec and mum and her friend are getting it all together. With the amount of donations on Givealittle I have about 10 weeks covered, so I have a HUGE way to go but i so deeply appreciate all the donations so far. I think the paper is doing an update this week on how I am going also. Thank you so so much.

  • More Information

      28 November 2013

On the 28th of September I auditioned for a place at The New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD) as a contemporary major as it is one of the best full time training schools in Australasia. On 25th October I was accepted into the NZSD as a contemporary major for a 2-3 year term in which I will gain a certificate and/or diploma in dance. I am so thrilled that I was accepted and that my dream of becoming a professional dancer is becoming a reality. In January, I will be moving to Wellington to live in the student hostels while I attend full time at the NZSD. Because I am only 16, I am not eligible for the student living allowance. My mum and i are doing fundraising events to raise money, such as a quiz, raffles, pie sales, chocolate sales and a yoga class. We are a single parent family and I have 2 younger brothers and sometimes it is a struggle for mum to pay the bills.

  • Some inspirational thoughts :)

      28 November 2013

I believe there is always so much to learn, Ifm hard working and I am always hungry for more so that I can challenge myself and reach my full potential. I am quite a deep thinker, I enjoy the many aspects and challenges of dance and I have a thirst to continue developing my skills and learning more. I respect the art of dance and I have continued to develop technique and artistry over my many years of dancing. I enjoy it and I feel a happiness within my mind and body when I dance. When Ifm up in Wellington for Associates and Winter Schools (programmes at the New Zealand School) it's like heaven for me and I just want to stay there. The older students at the school inspire and motivate me. Itfs so great to watch them to have such amazing role models and see glimpses of what my future could be. I always leave the building with a buzz and it gives me an optimistic attitude and outlook on life. I always do my best and soak up all the possibilities within my reach. Dancing is my calling - I simply love performing. There is nothing else I am more passionate about.
