Help NZ’s First Youth Fly Fishing Team Reach the World Championships!

Five talented young anglers have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Youth World Fly Fishing Championships in Slovakia in July 2027.

This is the first time New Zealand is sending a youth fly fishing team to the World Championships, making it a huge milestone for the sport and for the next generation of Kiwi anglers.

The team is made up of five boys aged 15 to 17:

* Anthony Guest — Rotorua

* Liam Spence — Cambridge

* Tyson Pearce — Rotorua

* Jayden Moore — Rotorua

* Charlie Laird — Waipukurau

The boys have been training through the Sports Fly Fishing New Zealand youth development programme, attending camps, competing around the country and learning from some of New Zealand’s leading competitive fly fishers.

Getting the team to Slovakia will cost around $50,000, including flights, accommodation, competition fees, equipment and travel.

We are raising funds to help reduce the financial burden on the families and give these boys the best possible chance to proudly represent New Zealand on the world stage.
