On the hunt for missing Birthday Cakes!

    Hi all,

    Just sending through an update regarding this give a little page. The Cake Detective now has a new give a little page set up as an organisation with the official charity status. Not to worry all donations have been received by us and 100% of which is still used directly to fund the ingredients and supplies for the cakes that are donated to those children going through hardship in the Waikato area. Again thank you all so much for the continued support.

  • Post Covid Cake Donation

    Just a quick update from The Cake Detective.

    We have had to slow down and during alert level 4 in New Zealand stop donating birthday cakes for a period. But we are back up and running and with more agencies on board we are going to be busier than before spreading love through cake.

    We are currently up to 70 birthday cakes since October last year. I am sure we will pass double the projected number of birthday cakes which was 50.

    We have joined with some new agencies over the past month to increase our reach to some of the most vulnerable in our community. We are now working with Rainbow Place and Child Cancer Foundation in the Waikato. Both of these organisations work endlessly to support those children with palliative care and those living with illness.

    We have had an influx of donations from a Facebook post which was so humbling and amazing considering the hardships many New Zealanders are going through during the times of Covid.

    So thank you, each and everyone of you for making it possible to continue to get these birthday cakes to the children for them to make some happy memories on their special day.

  • 50 Cakes!!

    I had thought just a short 4 months ago that The Cake Detective would donate 50 cakes in the first year. Well with your help we have hit that target in four months. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the kids over the weekend that have received a cake. One caregiver told me of the child’s reaction as it was a surprise to him. She said “he is on the spectrum, doesn’t show emotion easily. That day when she brought out his cake he cried and said it was the best part of the day”. You have all helped so much in making these memories possible for these kids. Thank you. Here’s to the next milestone of 100😍

  • Happiness one cake at a time

    A quick update from The Cake Detective.

    By the end of January with your help we will have given 40 children awesome birthday cakes to make them feel that little bit more special on their birthday. The is about 2 and a half cakes a week so double the amount the I had originally expected.

    We have widened the net of children in need that we support. Working with The Salvation Army, Waikato Heart kids and currently in talks with a couple of other agencies in the Waikato.

    We had a great fundraiser just before Christmas and a generous donation from Craig's Investments to support the donation of cakes.

    Thank you all again for support this cause and getting behind The Cake Detective in our efforts to make sure those kids going through a rough time in our community get birthday cakes.

  • One month on..

    I had thought at the start of this venture that I would like to do 50 cakes per year so that would be about 1 a week. Well, how wrong I was. I have done 13 cakes in the first 4 weeks so ahead of schedule. I am so appreciate of all the support of donations that is helping me to keep up with the demand. The caregivers and children I have been lucky enough to meet are so happy to be receiving these delicious gifts. Thank you all for your support.
