Walking to raise money for the residents of Wallingford Resthome
Temuka, Canterbury
Hi I'm Ollie, Im 11 years old, and I'm taking on the challenge of attempting to walk the Te Araroa Trail (with my family) to raise money for our local rest home.
My connection with the rest home started when I was in Year 4 and visited with my school. Since then, it has become a special place for my family. My Nan volunteers there, my Mum works there part-time, and I sometimes help with morning tea. I've loved getting to know the residents and seeing how much a simple chat, a laugh, or a friendly face can brighten someone's day.
Walking more than 3,000 kilometres from Cape Reinga to Bluff will be the biggest challenge I've ever taken on, but I want every step to make a difference for the people who have given so much to our community.
The money I raise will help the rest home buy things that will make life even more enjoyable for the residents, such as a bird bath for the gardens, a karaoke machine for singalongs, a new TV, or reading lamps. The more we raise, the more we can give back.
Every donation, big or small, will help me reach my goal and bring a little more comfort, fun, and happiness to the residents.
Thank you for supporting my journey and helping me make every kilometre count!

The residents wish list is a birdbath, karaoke machine, reading lamps, or a smart tv
