Help ‘Opportunity Arts’ support NZ artists with diverse backgrounds - who just need a bit of helping hand to be celebrated & have success!
Wellington
Kia ora,
'Opportunity Arts' advocates, empowers and provides practical support for artists of diverse backgrounds who face barriers to participation in the arts; to develop individual, sustainable arts practices.
We work with talented and dedicated, emerging artists, who for various reasons (for example, disability) require additional support to access opportunities that can increase their audience, profile, income, sense of pride and purpose.
We are passionate that with this mahi we can encourage social change and diversify the New Zealand contemporary art scene. Giving a voice and platform to those who are often unheard and unseen within this community and wider society.
Each artists journey with Opportunity Arts is different. But here's how it worked for Peter:
→ Peter Peterson is a talented sculptor (he creates stunning ceramics).
→ Peter wants to exhibit more. His work is of a high-quality and should have a larger audience.
→ Peter finds reading, utilizing the internet and art management logistics challenging.
→ Opportunity Arts tells Peter about upcoming shows and supports him to complete the application and all the logistics (ie: writing an artist statement, attending the opening) to be included in the show.
→ Opportunity Arts sponsors Peter by paying $50 submission fee (because Peter is receiving a benefit and has no disposable income).
→ Peter is included in the show, the public gets to experience his work and Peter is stoked! Opportunity Arts is also really pleased!
Funds raised from this page will support Artists to have inclusion in public exhibitions.
Individual account for now... 14 June 2018
Kia ora everyone,
I'd just like to be transparent with you all! Currently this givealittle is set up as an individual account, this is simply because I am in the process of formalizing the account - and people wanted to help and donate now! I will move this account over to a registered charity - as soon as we are registered - July 2018. Any funds raised from this page prior to July 2018 will move over into the trust account after this date.
Thanks for your support so far!
