Help Us Finish the Ōpuke Innovation Hub!

Agriculture and trades are the backbone of our country. At Mount Hutt College, we are on a mission to deliver a future-focused curriculum that equips our students with the "grit" and practical skills local industry demands.

The Vision: We have developed the Ōpuke Innovation Hub: a dedicated space where young innovators move between high-tech theory and hands-on practice. After years of planning, our Trades spaces are finally open and humming—but we are one final step away from the finish line.

The Final Hurdle: This project is not funded by the Ministry of Education. While the Board of Trustees has made a significant investment, and we have had amazing support from our wider community while embarking on this ambitious $1.1m project we now rely on your help and support to bridge the gap.

We need to raise $180,000 to:

1. Fit out our dedicated Agriculture Classroom -providing a modern and fit for purpose space for our students

2. Finish the wider Hub space to create a fully operational space

Why it Matters This isn’t just a building; it’s an investment in the next generation of leaders. By donating, you are helping keep our talented young people right here in our community by giving them a space to thrive, explore, and succeed.

Let’s finish what we started. Every dollar brings us closer to opening these doors.

If you are passionate about agriculture and trades in New Zealand we encourage you to support us.

Seven Sharp Visited the Hub!  25 May 2026

We have some incredibly exciting news to share! Last week, the team from Seven Sharp came along to check out the amazing learning happening right here in the Hub.

They got to see our students in action across our trades, horticulture, and agriculture classes. It was fantastic to showcase the hands-on skills our young people are developing every day.

Industry Partners in Action....

We couldn't do this without our incredible community and industry support.

During the visit:

Humm Engineering was onsite, working side-by-side with students in the workshop.

Jackson Holmes rolled up with their massive Fendt tractor to run an epic tractor maintenance workshop.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
