Who are Ōtākaro?

Ōtākaro (the place of the game) is an Ultimate Frisbee team based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand. We are a group of incredibly committed individuals following values of:

What is Ultimate?

Ultimate is a 7v7, non-contact, fast-paced sport played with a flying disc on a modified American Football field. What makes Ultimate unique is its emphasis on sportsmanship and Spirit of the Game. Ultimate is a self-refereed sport where the players on the field make their own calls and communicate to come to fair resolutions.

World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC):

The World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC) are being held in Limerick, Ireland, from the 15th to the 22nd of August in 2026. The event invites teams representing their clubs from over 30 nations across 3 divisions (Open, Women, and Mixed).

The costs to attend tournaments like these are high and entirely player-funded, with estimated total costs sitting around $11,000 NZD per player. This covers flights, tournament entry, training camps, support personnel, food, accommodation, transport, and uniforms.
