Otorohanga Kiwi House Pest and Predator Proof Fence
Help the Otorohanga Kiwi House create a pest and predator proof fence system to keep our unique wildlife safe and healthy.

The Otorohanga Kiwi House needs to build a pest and predator-proof fence to keep our wildlife safe.
After more than 40 years of faithful service our perimeter fencing is failing and we need to stop rats, cats and mice getting in and endangering our animals.
We are seeking significant community support for this project, which is estimated to cost $308,000. We are appealing to supporters of the Otorohanga Kiwi House to help us with donations towards this project.
The project includes building 513 metres of pest and predator-proof fence, installing double gate systems, arborists’ work and covering and pest-proofing storm water drains.
The benefits of establishing this fencing system is that we will be able showcase more of NZ's unique flora and fauna as it was before the introduction of mammalian pests. Creating an ecological island like this will also help to provide a safe corridor for seasonal migration of birds throughout the Waikato.

About us
The Otorohanga Kiwi House is a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity that has been protecting and conserving NZ native animals for 50 years. We breed kiwi, kaka, kea, whio (blue duck) tuatara and other species for release to the wild, advocacy programmes and conservation research. We care for over 200 NZ birds and reptiles.
