August Update. Keep on keeping on.
22 August 2019Kia ora whanau and friends
.Firstly thank you all for your continuous love and support, always
greatly appreciated.
Tonisha continues to do well albeit she is very tired
at the moment, following her last lot of chemo.A few weeks ago Tonisha's oncology doctor gave Tonisha a treatment schedule, which covers the next two years.. Tonisha is coming up to completing month three tomorrow. This has become our new normal. The treatment is in various blocks of 21 days( 3 cycles) and then 56 days, then various other blocks. There is chemo and other fluid infusions some of it to counteract potential side affests. We have been informed treatment for leukemia is rather complex. Good news ( Great news) is the cancer is in remission which means it is no longer progressing. Hallelujah. Full medical clearance still will be a few years off. However the chemo /treatment regime still remains at an intense level. so still a wee ways to go. She is recieving lot more infusions and injections this last round which has her very tired and in a bit more discomfort than previously. In he last round at one stage Tonisha has 4 separate lines running into her( see the photo) Poor thing had to push the infusion bag trolley thing with three machines on it to go to the toilet. I'm no expert but I think the aggressive treatment approach is now more from a preventative perspective. I may be over simplifying things but the main thing is that the medical team are pleased with the progress. Tonisha still remains resilient and consistent and calm as she has since day 1. Some of the treatment blocks will require her to be an inpatient at the hospital due to the intensity of the chemo and the need to be constantly under observation
Our new normal is Tonisha will still be based at RMH probably for at least the rest of the this year. Big shout out to RMH, great place, great staff.
Between Gene, Sini, and I one of us usually stay with Nish in the evenings. Gene is here in wgtn Thurs night to Mon night. I stay the other week nights joined by Sini on her days off. Nana Ivy and our other kids drop in when they can. Nisha has also started venturing back to Kapiti for visits when she has been given the ok by the hospital.
Apologies for such a long post. To our praying friends and brethren please continue to pray for a complete healing ( medical clearance) for Tonisha. Also your prayers act like a wall against the leukemia cells trying to spread( this is what chemo is doing in the natural. ) Also please prayer against any adverse side effects both short term and long term. Some of the recent chemo can cause liver/ kidney damage but we stand in faith believing for the best outcome . Tonisha has only vommitted once throughout the treatment. She's tough and as we have said previously just takes it all day by day.
So thank you all once again. Your warm thoughts and prayers are so appreciated and are truly making a difference.. We are all doing well as a family and remain thankful to our heavenly father and to all you guys for sustaining us.
Thanks for reading.
Blessings and love to you all.
