We are a young couple doing everything we can to save our beloved cat Ducky after a sudden and devastating accident
Saint Johns, Auckland
Our kitty Ducky had been missing for a day, which was already unlike her. We were worried, but we didn’t expect what we were about to find. Later that night, when everything was quiet, we went out searching for her and listened for any sound. That’s when we heard her faint meows.
We found her trapped underneath our neighbour’s deck, unable to move. Her back legs were badly injured — the vet believes they are broken, possibly from being hit by a car or attacked. Seeing her like that was heartbreaking.
We rushed her straight to the 24-hour vet, where they told us the cost just to assess her injuries could be between $2,000–$3,000, and surgery to fix her legs could be around $10,000.
Ducky is such a sweet, loving girl and part of our family. She didn’t deserve this, and it’s been incredibly hard seeing her in pain. We want to do everything we can to give her a chance at recovery and a happy life again, but the cost is far beyond what we can afford.
We are asking, from the bottom of our hearts, for any help at all. No amount is too small — every donation brings us one step closer to getting Ducky the treatment she desperately needs.
If you’re unable to donate, even sharing this would be amazing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give. We are truly grateful. ❤️
The money will be used for Ducky’s emergency treatment, surgery to repair her injuries, and any follow-up care she needs to recover.
Update on Ducky 🤍 23 April 2026
Hi everyone,
We wanted to share an update on Ducky as we reopen her Givealittle page.
Ducky has now been through surgery for her injuries, including fractures in both of her legs and a severe tail pull injury that has affected her bladder and bowel control. The past couple of weeks have been incredibly difficult, but she is still here fighting every day.
Since surgery, we’ve started to see small but hopeful signs. She’s beginning to show early nerve responses, and we are doing everything we can to support her recovery — including ongoing vet care, medications, and laser therapy. She still needs a lot of hands-on care, including help with toileting and staying clean, but we’re taking things one day at a time.
If you’re able to help in any way — whether that’s donating, sharing, or simply following her journey — it truly means more than we can express.
Thank you for supporting Ducky 🤍
