Our Lady of Kapiti Parish Centre a place for community and outreach

$3,450 of $50,000 goal
Given by 23 generous donors in one year

We are seeking your help to complete the building of our Parish Centre which will provide a base from which we can build community in Kapiti

Nationwide

Our Lady of Kapiti Parish Centre will be used to provide a place for community and outreach for people of all ages and ethnicities in our community. The building is 97% completed and we urgently need funds to complete and furnish it ready to open before winter 2020.

We will be offering pre-school activities for parents and children. Youth workers will provide music and activity evenings for school aged children. A drop in centre is seen as important for people who need company and there will be a meeting space for community groups.

The Parish Centre will also provide a place where trained advocates can meet with beneficiaries to assist them to access the benefits to which they are entitled. Included in our community outreach will be a foodbank.

The development of the new church and Parish Centre has evolved from the need to close two earthquake- prone churches and relocate the parish school, the overall shortage of priests and guidance from Cardinal John Dew about the location and direction for our new parish complex. Our Lady of Kapiti School opened in February 2018. Building a new church without a parish centre was not an option as we had identified that it was essential to have a base to operate from to enable us to offer outreach to meet the needs of our parishioners and the wider community of Kapiti.

Centred in the heart of Paraparaumu this centre has been designed to serve the needs of the wider community of the Kapiti Coast. It is situated in Presentation Way which is behind the Z Service Station on Kapiti Road, Paraparaumu and is easily accessed by walking, cycling, public transport and motor vehicle.

Your donation will help to complete the Parish Centre and which will enable us to provide a dedicated space to offer both community building and outreach . You will be helping those in need in Kapiti. Thank-you.

Your support has been instrumental in the building of Our Lady of Kapiti Parish centre. The centre is in use every day as a meeting place for a wide variety of groups. The excellent kitchen facilities ensure that hospitality can be provided for many events. Having the office space in the centre, connected to our church and the primary school next door ensures that we have a hub in the centre of Kapiti for the benefit of all. Thank you for your generosity.
