Flooding in this young couples flat destroyed all their belongings and sadly without insurance, they desperately need help to restart.
Murrays Bay, Auckland
My niece Cedar and her boyfriend are a young student couple living in Murrays Bay on the North Shore of Auckland. They lived in a little basement flat while attending university and working part time. During the devastating floods in Auckland on the 27th of January - they lost everything when the flood water rose all the way to the ceiling of the flat, while they were trying to get back from work in the chaos of Auckland traffic. All their belongings including furniture, electronics, whiteware, sentimental items and clothes were destroyed - on top of the fact that they couldn't afford insurance. But the saddest part is that their beloved pets budgies both drowned as a result :-(
The aftermath has been catastrophic and has left them with virtually nothing to their name. The whole experience has been very traumatic and I wanted to reach out to our friends and family to assist with putting their young lives back on track. They are staying with us for the forseeable future and we would be incredibly grateful for any assistance in an attempt to replace some of the items they lost so that they can begin to rebuild their lives.
I am Cedar's Aunt.
The funds will assist them to replace some of their lost belongings such as laptops for uni work, a desk, shoes and basic furniture.
