Ours Not Mines: Help us stop new destructive mines ripping up precious conservation land in the Coromandel
Auckland
We need your help.
In 2017, the Government promised no more mines in conservation land. It’s now 2024, and Oceana Gold want to tear up more of the pristine Coromandel to rip out gold from underground and ship it offshore.
This is a very special part of our motu. Mining it could poison the water, it could kill off a taonga species, and it will transform a rainforest into an industrial wasteland. Holidaymakers, and local people do not want heavy industry on their doorstep. The only people who want this mine are the shareholders of Oceana Gold.
Every cent helps us fight to keep New Zealand's precious conservation land pristine so we can all enjoy it for years to come.
Join us in fighting to protect Aotearoa from mining companies. This campaign has two urgent goals:
1. Demand that the Government ban new mines on DOC land.
2. Gain public donations and support to stop Oceana Gold undermine the forest at Wharekirauponga.
At the same time, Musicians Against Mines are getting behind our cause with our Lyrical Art Auction. Original handwritten lyrics by great New Zealand songwriters are being auctioned in support of our campaign to stop gold mining on conservation land.
Search 'Musicians Against Mines' on Trade Me to check out the handwritten lyrics incredible NZ-made songs up for auction.
Funds raised will be put towards Ours Not Mines’ awareness campaign and legal funds as it continues its fight in the courts against OceanaGold proposed new mine on DOC land at Wharekirauponga (near Whangamatā).
