Paekakariki House Fire

  • Thank you all a million times over.....

      17 February 2018

    Hi everyone,

We just wanted to update you and extend our thanks to you all. It's been a heart wrenching week to say the least.

The support and assistance that you have all shown is totally humbling. From the lady who i handed Ruby to when i was climbing over the fence when we first emerged, to the unrelenting kindness and generosity of the Paekakariki community and abroad, to the beautiful kids who drew us pictures and baked biscuits, to the folks who have made meals, to friends, family, workmates and total strangers who have come together to support us by way of this page as well as clothes, toys and household items. Thank you a million times over.

Special thanks to Janet and Holly for being so calm and kind, Anita for sifting through the ruins to find anything recognisable, Mike, Marie and Lindsay, Miles & Louise, Jonathan and Alice, Michael and Sean, Sue and Mike, folks from Kapiti Council, The Learning Connexion, Fraser Fire, OPSM, Waikanae Baptist Op Shop, the Shields and our immediate families who are in as much shock as we are. There are just too many people to list......

We do have some good news to share, that is the cats have all been found and are being cared for by Michael. We also miraculously salvaged the pattern to make a new Miffy for Ruby, her cuddly lost in the fire. Its strange now what seems meaningful by way of possessions.

Again, thank you for your generosity. Here's to new beginnings... 2018 is going to be a great year (we're just going to start ours in April)

    Arohanui,

    Sharon

I'd like to thank all of those people too. Also everyone who contacted us with offers of donations which we were unable to use. Everyone is appreciated. And thanks to you Sharon for understanding people's need to help and their need to grieve alongside you. We all feel for you and we'll all miss the beautiful old lady who sat on the corner watching over us all.
