Paul Bennett has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of melanoma. He now has stage IV cancer. Help Paul fight cancer.
Wellington
Paul Bennett has been diagnosed with cancer three times in the past 15 months. It was only by chance Paul decided to go to the doctors to get rid of an irritating white type blister on the top of his head when he found out it was actually a rare and aggressive form of melanoma.
Paul has already undergone three surgeries to remove the cancer as it was travelling through the glands in his neck and Radiotherapy treatment to stop any further spreading. At the start of this year Paul had a routine scan and usually within two weeks the hospital calls Paul with the results. Nobody had called him regarding his results and so for their family, things were looking good. But 6 weeks later at another routine hospital appointment with the surgeon/ doctor, Paul was asked if anyone had called him about his scan results and that he (the doctor) had only been given them that morning. The results were that Paul has a tumor in his spleen and spots on both lungs. The Doctors apologised for their miscommunications, and after a couple more scans and tests, he was told he now has Stage IV Melanoma. They didn't get angry at the hospital staff for their error, for those 6 weeks they felt they lived without any weight on their shoulders.
Paul is a loving husband to his beautiful wife Gesina, and a devoted father to four princesses, Abigail, Maia, Zoey and Jessie.
He has always remained positive, determined and strong for his family.
In one of his post's he writes 'Stage 4 cancer means your life expectancy is measured in months, not years (6 - 12 months, is the average life expectancy for stage 4 melanoma)....... I feel really strongly that this thing is beatable and I'm damn well going to give it my best to do so.'
I have set this page up to ask family and friends to help give their family all the love and support during this next phase in their lives. This will give them peace of mind so Gesina can continue to support Paul along with her girls during this time.
I know they would be eternally grateful for your help. Our family thank you for all your love, thoughts, prayers and support that you have given them already.
Your kind donation will allow Paul to continue treatment, help him recover and will relieve some pressure off them financially.
Happy 39th Birthday Paul. Rest in Love our Brother 6 November 2015
Our beloved Paul passed away today on his 39th birthday in his beautiful wife Gesina's arms.
From The Bennet Girls and all his extended family, we are truly grateful for all your love and support over this time.
He was a fighter right til the very end.
We know he is in a better place and no longer in pain.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
