My name is Paul Barclay and I am a totally blind runner running for Achilles New Zealand. I live in Christchurch and my goal is to run the New York Marathon on Sunday the 3rd of November 2024. I was entered and ready to compete in this event in 2020, but COVID cancelled the marathon that year so I am eager to finish what I started working towards back then. As a totally blind runner I need two guides to assist me in the preparation training as well as guiding me through the actual marathon itself.
Rosie Hay and Emma Crichton are the guides who I have chosen to guide me in New York - we train together regularly so this was an easy decision to make. My aim is to fundraise enough to cover our airfares and accommodation costs as well as any additional travel expenses. Your support by donating to our fund will be greatly appreciated!
