Do you want to help people with MS, their family and carers across Tairawhiti, East Coast and Wairoa? - well we are the charity for you!
MS is an auto-immune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks parts of the
body that are vital to everyday function. Symptoms are unpredictable and can vary in intensity. While some people experience fatigue and numbness, severe cases of MS can cause paralysis, vision loss, and diminished brain function. MS can be a debilitating disease and there aren’t the same wrap around services as for the more prevalent diseases, making it especially important that people have our help to help them access agencies and services they may not be aware of.
We also support people with other neurological conditions (e.g. Motor Neurone, Muscular Dystrophy etc) that have no local support networks in the area.
About us
We are a local charity that supports those in our community with Multiple Sclerosis or other neurological conditions that have no local support networks. We cover the East Coast to Hicks Bay, Gisborne and inland to Matawai, and Wairoa in the south.
Use of funds
Advocacy, information, social support, home visits, providing opportunities for members such as hydro therapy, counselling etc.
