Let’s Pay Red’s Mortgage

    Hi Everyone,

    Our givealittle page for Red will shut down at the end of this month. Together we have managed to raise a whopping $25,468. This is such a humbling achievement and the Tucker’s could not be more grateful for every ounce of support and help!

    But, greedy as ever, I’m keen to push harder and need your help. Can we over the next few weeks scratch together a bit more and try and get our total to $30k? It involves us sharing Red’s story on our social media pages - especially Facebook and Instagram. The number of people from my own friendship group on Facebook who have never even met the Tucker’s but chosen to donate anyway is AMAZING. It is in sharing Red’s story that will get us to the next level.

    Hello to you all our wonderful donors!!

    Just a quick update for you all about a few of the things that have been happening with Red and with our fundraising efforts.

    TVNZ have been out to visit Red at Orewa College to run a piece on Kristen and indeed on POEMs nationwide. This will be part of the ‘Good Sorts’ segment at the end of the news next Sunday. We’re looking forward to seeing it!

    In the meantime, we are going to extend the fundraising date to give us a little more time. Ideally for the Tuckers we’d like to break the $100,000 mark, to really take the pressure off the loss of a whole income for an extended period of time and to whack a chunk off the Tucker’s mortgage taking that pressure off them.

  • Red’s Got a Diagnosis

    Our lovely friend Red has finally been given a diagnosis - POEMs Disease. A rare and debilitating blood disorder that attacks the bodies nerves and internal organs. It’s a truly rotten disease. But treatment is afoot and the Tuckers, not to be outdone, have approached treatment with their usual positivity and humour.

    For Red, chemotherapy is the starting place, but this may well play out to include a stem cell transplant too.

    Please everyone, dig deep and keep on sharing the link to this site. The Tuckers are some of the best people I know and they sure as hell don’t deserve this shitty nonsense. Let’s try and get their mortgage paid to make the times ahead just a tad easier on them.
