Peace Action Ōtautahi is a group committed to the disruption of violent systems and corporations in our city, and beyond.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Joseph (22) and Jackson (18), two Ōtautahi-based activists, are facing an intimidatory and drawn-out charge of burglary, which comes with a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment. In March 2025, the pair peacefully occupied the roof of a weapons company to protest the company's complicity in Israel's genocide in Gaza and bring the company's establishment in Aotearoa to the public eye. The case is expected to go to trial in late 2025.
A burglary charge for this type of protest is unheard of in Aotearoa, and the intent behind it is clear. Resisting the war machine and protesting terrorism comes at a greater cost than supplying it. The NZ Government know that this charge is a way to stamp out the building of a radical grassroots movement for peace in Aotearoa.
With this drawn out legal process and expected high associated costs, we ask that if you're able to, please donate what you can to support Peace Action Ōtautahi's mahi and these two young activist's legal fight.
Donations will only go towards the costs associated with this drawn out charge and trial, including costs associated with the courts and potential fines
