Only one month ago my Dad was diagnosed with terminal melanoma. He has around 6 months to live without treatment.

Can you help PHILIP DRURY?
We need help urgently to raise money for our Dads melanoma treatment drugs
Our amazing, kind and funny Dad, Philip Drury, was diagnosed a month ago with terminal melanoma cancer.
On 4th June 2015 he had emergency surgery to remove a tumour from beside his brain stem.
Fortunately the operation was successful but the worst news was to come. He has melanoma in his liver, lungs and left hip bone. He has been given about 6 months to live.
He has just finished radiation treatment on his brain tumour site and hip and his tumour has been tested for the gene mutation that responds to the free melanoma trial drugs. He wasn’t successful.
There are no other free melanoma drugs available.
His only option now is to pay privately for the amazing melanoma drugs that you may have read about recently in the media. Ipilumumab has a course of 4 injections and costs $150,000.
Pembrolizumab/Nivolumab is another melanoma drug that is administered every 2 weeks. It costs $15,000 per treatment. Treatment is ongoing and the results are very encouraging. These drugs taken together can shrink melanoma up to 50% and give a person extended life. These drugs will most likely be available free in a number of years and will save hundreds of lives. We are waiting for advice to decide which one he should have. Our family cannot afford this treatment, but with your help we can give him some hope.
We want our Dad to live as long as possible. He is only 63 and too young to die. We want him to be able to see our careers take off, walk us down the aisle, play with his grandchildren. If you can help him live longer please donate as little or as much as you can.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Dad and his melanoma treatment! 6 August 2015
Hey everyone, it has taken a while, but now I can update you all about Dad. A lot of heart felt decisions have been made and we have managed to come up with some of our own funding to start Dad's treatment. He was able to have his first treatment today. Dad is feeling relieved and happy to be on his way :)!! His lovely oncologist was happy with his blood test results too, so things are looking really positive at the moment.
Of course this is only the start we know. We will now be using the donations you have given so far and relying on any further generous donations to keep the treatments going. So thank you all for your contributions and support so far! Our family feels very humbled and grateful for your financial help and all the visits, food and kindness shown to him over these past worrisome weeks. Any further donations will continue to help pay for the ongoing costs of treatment. So keep sharing this page and we will keep you updated as he progresses.
Thank you, Beatrice and my family.
