We are hoping to raise enough funds to buy a portable defibrillator for Phoebe, by running the Wellington marathon in July.
Wellington
We three crazy chicks, Shelley, Kerry and Hayley with our six feet, are planning on running a marathon on 5th July this year. By running this marathon we hope to raise funds for a portable AED device for our little buddy Phoebe.
She needs this device because Phoebe has a heart condition that is congenital called Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. (Half a heart) it is very rare and has only been operated on for ten to fifteen years. She has had three open heart surgeries. She is medically fragile with limited immunity so is often sick with infections. She is however quite miraculous in every part of her life. She has defied the medical profession by surviving the first year of her life. She has learnt to walk which we didn't think she would do. She has many delays but continues to progress. Phoebe’s heart is at risk of failure it will never function like our hearts. She will eventually need a transplant. An AED device needs to be used within five minutes in event of cardiac arrest? For her probably even less time, which is why she needs to have a portable AED with her at all times as she grows, becomes more active and independent of her parents.
So as you can see it is a real worthwhile cause. We are relying on your very important support because without you lot we can’t do it!! It will only take a few dollars to make a big difference to buying one of these life saving devices...please we are counting on your support.
