$102 of $1,700,000 goal

Design and Build an unmanned robotic unit (ROV) in to the Pike River mine with the goal of recovering the remains of those who were lost.

Auckland

As any Kiwi will know this was a tragic disaster and there are still unanswered questions,

To date there have been 4 robotic units sent on to the Pike River Mine, all have so far failed given they were not designed specifically for that purpose.

Boris van Galvin's involvement (page creator)

Consultation with experts in respect to gaining access to the mine and reviewing existing information in respects to the environment.

Development and Design of the ROV

Engineering and Building of the ROV with a backup unit being built at the same time so as to ensure that in the unlikely event the primary unit fails it can be recovered and the survey/work can be continued.

Transportation of the ROV and support equipment on site as well as any operational costs.

Some of the work such as the design, engineering and support work will be undertaken by volunteers who have agreed to donate their time for the project.

Use of funds

My goal is to design and build a unit specifically to enter the mine and first off survey the environment using various sensors and video equipment.

The unit will also be designed so as to attempt the recovery of any human remains found as well as any equipment that may need to be moved/removed in order to proceed with the full survey.
