Pirongia Mountain Vegetables suffer catastrophic flood damage.
Waikato
Tony Cato and his family grow vegetables near Pirongia in the Waikato. The recent storm caused a brutal devastating flood which destroyed all his winter vegetable crops and also took away much of the topsoil, leaving debris and detritus. Those young crops were his families income for the winter months. Not only is there a huge clear up job to do, it may not even be possible to replant in some areas. His busines is devastated and he needs financial help to try to recover and rebuild.
Tony Cato and I are both vendors at the Waikato Farmers’ markets.
Hiring equipment to clear debris, rebuilding the topsoil, purchasing compost, fertiliser, seedlings. Replacing damaged fences, tracks and equipment
