Your help can bring my beautiful son Ballad back to New Zealand from a Vietnamese hospital, so he can receive treatment and care in NZ
Napier, Hawke's Bay
This is my beautiful son Ballad. He is terribly unwell with his first ever episode of mania and mental illness in Vietnam. He is locked up in a public psych hospital just outside Ho Chi Minh. The hospitals there are not like here. There is only medication and no one to help. The cockroaches are huge. His father has now arrived to help him with his cares. He stays in the room with him as is the VN way.
When I thought to do a givealittle page I was told that I should not be sharing this but when your son gets sick in a country with no travel insurance and he is in such a sorry state he has to be held down and given anti psychotic medicine you will do anything, ask anyone for help to get him home, just like you would if he was physically unwell or if he had had an accident. No other hospital would take him so we are grateful to this hospital that he is not wandering the streets of HCM.
Some of you may know him from his Kapiti College School days, his time as a competitive swimmer and national medalist with Raumati Swimming Club, or from his days at Canterbury University, or maybe his time playing Ultimate Frisbee in Christchurch, or when he went and worked on the diary farm in Methven or perhaps you met him when he was travelling the world, or when he was living in Vietnam teaching English. This boys still got plenty of adventures still to have but first he needs to come back to NZ to get well.
He is my son.
Ambulance transfers, flights for him and his father and a professional psych travel nurse to accompany him, medications.
Thank you so much. ❤️🙏🇻🇳🇳🇿
