Abandoned bunny Flopsanne needs urgent vet treatment to get her healthy and ready to find a forever home

Flopsanne needs urgent vet treatment to get her ready to find a forever home.
Flopsanne was abandoned at a local reserve where a cardboard banana box was placed over her and weighted down with rocks leaving her to die. She was thankfully spotted by some walkers who posted about her on a local Facebook page. By the time we got to her, she had managed to escape from the banana box but hadn't ventured far. Although trembling with fear, she eventually let us approach her and pick her up to get her home.
Her nails were terribly overgrown and made it difficult for her to walk. It was clear that she wasn't very well cared for. We took her to a bunny savvy vet who gave her a check up and trimmed her nails. This is when we found out she has some dental problems with her front teeth.
We have been looking after Flopsanne for the past 12 days. She has been living in our bathroom in a wicker basket house and has a Llama cuddly toy named Kendrick Llama which she loves!..(possibly a little too much!) She gets playtime outside when we are home and she loves exploring around the garden. At first she would hide in her house whenever we came in, but has since gotten more and more confident. After a week, she would come to us for pats and is loving nose rubs!
Unfortunately, on Tuesday we noticed Flopsanne was not eating or pooping, and was hiding away in her house. After gently checking that her tummy felt soft, we gave her some infacol and syringe fed her mushed pellets and baby food. We got some poop output, so continued with this at regular intervals throughout the night. Her condition did not improve, so in the morning we took her to the vet. Flopsanne has an ear infection that is causing her pain which is stopping her from eating. After taking pain relief, she is mostly back to her old self but this is not a permanent solution.
Flopsanne will need to be spayed, vaccinated, have her teeth xrayed and ear infection treated before she is ready to find her forever home. We would love to keep her ourselves, but we have two bunnies of our own who won't get on with her as they are a bonded pair.
Flopsanne is a beautiful natured bunny and we would desperately like to find her a loving forever home but need to get her fit and healthy first. We have been told by her vet that the cost of the treatments will be around $650, but possibly more depending on her teeth.
Any contributions will be gratefully appreciated. Should there be any excess, this would go to Westley's World which is a wonderful non-profit charity that helps improve the lives of NZ pet rabbits
The money raised will be used to spay, vaccinate, xray teeth and treat Flopsanne's ear infection. Any excess will go to Westley's World, a wonderful non-profit charity that helps improve the lives of NZ pet rabbits
Flopsanne is now all treated and up for adoption :) 17 March 2020
We have been absolutely blown away by the love and genorisity for Flopsanne, thank you so much.
Flopsanne has now been vaccinated with Filavac, and had her spey, dental xray, ear clean and tear duct flush. Her dental xrays came back much better than expected and no current work is required. She is at an increased risk of dental disease in the future, but a good diet will help with this and thankfully she loves her hay and long grass! In fact, she loves all food, this girl can certainly eat and poop!!!
The quivering and cowering bunny we rescued a month ago has blossomed into the sweetest, friendliest little bunny!
Total vet bills came to $602 so we weren't far off which is fantastic.
Flopsanne is now up for adoption on the Facebook page The Warren NZ. Please head on over if you are interested in adopting her.
