Please help get Austin vital health equipment - A Cough Assist Machine for a DMD sufferer

  • Hospital Provides a Cough Assist Machine!

More news to the continuing story of getting a Cough Assist Machine!

Firstly, as the title says, the Hospital has loaned us a cough assist machine - only problem is it is not portable! So, we have taken that one to school so it will be a fixture there until he leaves at the end of next year.

I have also worked out how to have Austin prove that he is Austin, so the funds are to be released by Give a Little. So we are getting a bit closer to having our own machine!

  • Thanks for everyone's help!

Thank you all who have generously donated to help get a cough assist machine for Austin.

With all the generosity, Austin has raised over $6,000 towards the machine. Calculating Spark's administration fee is a bit of a nightmare so not totally sure on the exact amount but will probably be around $6,000! We are now waiting on identification verification which seems to be taking a while to have Spark release the funds.

We are also in the process of getting a quote for a machine with the plan to approach a charity trust for the remaining amount.

The 5th November is a year since Austin had his health issues, and the machine that we have borrowed from the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has been a true life saver for him over the past year. When the new machine is purchased, the machine that we have borrowed can go back to MDA and be given to another person requiring it. These machines, along with Bi-Pap machines that the hospital do issue, are required by all Duchenne sufferers.

Once again, thank you so much for your support!

    Cheers

    Steve and Sharyn
